NZICT in the Community
Computer Clubhouse
NZICT supports the Computer Clubhouse, a fantastic initiative that provides a creative and safe after-school learning environment where young people from under-served communities work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology.
There are currently five Computer Clubhouses in New Zealand: Wellington, Hamilton, Whakatane, Wanganui and Otara, with a new Clubhouse under construction in Henderson, west Auckland. By the end of 2012, it is envisioned there will be 12 in New Zealand.
If you are interested in contributing to the confidence and future of a young person at one of the Computer Clubhouses around New Zealand, visit their website to become a mentor.
Life Game Project
Supporting New Zealand as a place where everybody is safe and loved by harnessing the power of immersive games technology to foster the development of life skills and positive lifestyle choices. The Life Game Project does this by providing refurbished computers to under-served communities so people can play games in a supervised and supportive environment, and encourages the development of video games with content that addresses local needs.
